Towers. 1852. 4to. 48pp. Illustrated with 12 tinted lithograph views (on 8 plates) of the California coastline, and 6 large folding topographic maps of California's harbors and rivers (all dated 1850). Orig. dark brown cloth with an elaborately pictorial gilt stamped front cover reading, "Memoir and Map of California." Later blue linen protective wrapper. Housed in a custom made 1/2 black morocco, gilt, pull-off case. Plates and maps, the outer margins with an old embossed blind stamp of the "Belfast Museum." A small round rubber stamp of the "National Observatory Washington" on the title page, and another rubber stamp, "Duplicate Sold" on the verso of the title.    $2,000.00 (trade discount allowed)
