Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, one of the five Fireside Poets, was the most 
popular American poet of the 19th century, best known for works like 
EVANGELINE, THE SONG OF HIAWATHA, and "*Paul Revere's Ride*." He was 
also the first American to translate Dante's THE DIVINE COMEDY.  In

April 1880. A 2-page AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED on two sides of an 8-3/4" x 
7" sheet of paper, folded once, to an unidentified recipient inviting 
him to dine at his home and telling him which "horse-car" would be best 
to take from Boston. SIGNED "Henry W. Longfellow." Normal folds from
