(8),291,(1)pp. With the engraved frontispiece portrait and the fine added engraved title (often lacking) by W. van de Passe. With 21 text engravings, each with descriptive engraved text, the engravings signed "FH" for Friedrich van Hulsen. 18th century brown morocco, gilt spine, hinges repaired some time ago with calf strips. Carleton's (d. 1628) popular book on Elizabethan church history (first edition 1624). The copper engravings are wonderful. All of the early editions are quite scarce today. STC 4642.
