FACSIMILE REPRINT; first edition, 1835.  “This book provides an interesting insight into early nineteenth-century English binding practices.”  From Middleton’s Introduction.  It went through 6 editions up to 1869.  It was very popular, being issued at a time when English bookbinding was being rapidly industrialized, and no other manuals were available for those interested in the trade.
