The London Gazette. [London:] Printed by Tho. Newcomb in the Savoy, 1686-87. Fifty-five separate issues (an incomplete run) dating from October 14, 1686, to June 16, 1687. Unbound folios (ca. 19 x 8 cm.) printed on both sides; loosely laid into a modern cardboard folder with printed labels. Mild toning, occasional spots of soiling and shallow wear to the edges, intermittent damp-stain to lower fore-corners, three or four sheets trimmed close at the top, just clipping the first line of text. Generally good or better condition.
Contents include:

	- Extensive coverage of the Great Turkish War, aka War of the Holy League, with bulletins and dispatches from Venice, Rome, Leghorn, Vienna, Constantinople, and elsewhere.
	- Much on James II and his court.
	- Reactions of religious sects and denominations to James's Declaration of Indulgence, including addresses and petitions from the Quakers, Presbyterians, Congregationalists, Catholics, etc.
	- News from the court of Louis XIV.
	- Proclamation by Lord Deputy Tyrconnel re. Ireland.
	- Lists of circuit judges, sheriffs, etc.
	- Postage and postmasters.
	- A Proclamation for the Encouraging and better Establishing of the Manufacture of White-Paper.
	- Hundreds of ads and notices for lost or stolen watches, horses and spaniels, runaway servants, book auctions, etc., etc.
