We offer for your consideration net to all and postpaid at $100.00, the following;

Dowling, Rev. John. The History of Romanism: From the Earliest Corruptions of Christianity to the Present Time… New York: Edward Walker, 1846.
Eleventh edition; octavo; pp; xviii, ads & reviews, 671, (i), index of engravings, (i), ads; engraved frontispiece and additional title page plus fifty full page plates; original printed paper wrappers; Internally very good; the wrapper spine is worn exposing the sewn signatures, lower right corner to front wrapper is missing as is a larger upper left corner to the rear wrapper. The book block is cracked at p244 but complete.

  An interesting review copy. The front wrapper is addressed to “Mr. Editor” and explains he would have sent a handsomely bound book but the Post Office will not allow books to be shipped in any binding besides paper covers. He states that this book is now in a 12th edition, each edition numbering 1000 copies. He has enclosed within the preliminary xviii pages advertisements and reviews. A curious production worth the price for the wrappers alone. An anti-Catholic work.
