Scarce Latin text edition of the author's "Traite des Fortifications ou Architecture Militaire" first printed in 1648. Fournier (1595-1652) was a prolific author writing on navigation, geometry, artillery, and geography, but his most important work appears to be this treatise on military architecture and fortification. The plates depict castles, forts, citadels, walled cities, and their various architectural elements.
