Murray, 1831. Early edition. Five (5) volumes, octavo; engraved
frontispiece in each volume + many engraved portraits inserted and bound
into the text. Bound by W. Pratt in polished calf, gilt-decorative spines
with raised bands, red and green leather labels, ruled covers and
dentelles, marbled endpapers, all edges gilt. The engravings were inserted
without tissue guards so that some offsetting is seen in text on the facing
pages; otherwise a tight, bright set. 8.5" x 5.25" Very Good. Full Calf.
Extra-illustrated with the insertion of hundreds of engraved portraits.
