A[ntoine]-J[ean]-C[asse] Saint-Prosper: Les Aventures d'un Promeneur. [Nos. 1-18.] Paris: chez N. Pichard [nos. 16-18, chez l'Auteur], 1827-1830. Eighteen parts bound in one vol.; 8vo (20.5 cm), in period half calf and marbled boards, gilt-lettered morocco spine label; 14 engraved plates, 2 of which are hand-colored. Mostly first editions; nos. 16-18 are second editions.

The first 18 issues of this very uncommon serial work in the vein of Addison and Steele's Spectator. Irregularly published, it eventually ran to 22 issues by 1840. OCLC locates examples in only two institutions worldwide: a complete run of all 22 nos. at the Bibliothèque nationale de France and an incomplete run (nos. 1-15) at the British Library. Binding with bumping and wear to the corners, old professional repairs to the spine ends, front joint cracked but the front board is secure; paper repair to the first title-page; scattered generally light foxing; latter half of the text with a crease to the top fore-corners of the leaves; part no. 13 skips pp. 21-24, possibly as issued. A vivid picture of Parisian life during the Bourbon Restoration.
