A set of five "Christmas books" written by WILLIAM MAKEPEACE THACKERAY. Five volumes, uniformly bound in full red levant morocco (by Bartlett & Co. of Boston) with gilt-tooled boards, spines and turn-ins; all first or first English editions; all with the ORIGINAL FRONT & REAR WRAPS bound in.

Our Street. London: Chapman and Hall, 1848. With 16 colored plates (including frontispiece and title-page).

Doctor Birch and His Young Friends. London: Chapman and Hall, 1849. With 16 colored plates (including frontispiece and title-page).

The History of Samuel Titmarsh and the Great Hoggarty Diamond. London: Bradbury & Evans, 1849. With 10 plates (including the extra title-page).

The Kickleburys on the Rhine. London: Smith, Elder & Co., 1850. With 15 colored plates (including frontispiece and title-page).

The Rose and the Ring; or, The History of Prince Giglio and Prince Bulbo. London: Smith, Elder & Co., 1855. With the publisher's 15-pp. catalogue of books.

All but The History of Samuel Titmarsh with boards detached; some corners bumped and worn; Our Street with some loss to the spine head; others with lesser wear to the extremities; occasional mild toning to the leaves; two vols. with bumping to the upper corner of the text block; otherwise clean and sound, the contents generally very good or better, in bindings worthy of restoration.
