photographs. Copy #XLV of only 65 numbered copies (of a total of 265) 
SIGNED by John Ashbery, Amiri Baraka, James Broughton, Marshall 
Clements, Diane di Prima, Denise Levertov, Michael McClure, Ed Sanders, 
Diane Wakoski, John Wieners, and Robert Wilson, proprietor of the famous 
New York shop. The book includes tributes, poems, and essays by twelve 
different writers as well as a condensed history of the shop by Wilson 
and a bibliography of Phoenix publications. The smaller limitation of 65 
is housed in a clamshell box with handprinted labels. Each includes a 
handbound photo album with ten 5" x 7" prints; cancelled and SIGNED 
checks from the shop to Diane di Prima, Gerard Malanga, and Ed Sanders; 
2 Phoenix Christmas pamphlets; a prospectus for the first Phoenix 
publication (by John Wieners); and a reproduction of an early Phoenix 
catalogue. An interesting compilation of the history of a bookshop and 
its interaction with the careers of the writers who frequented it. Fine
