An important Scottish association.  George Baillie (1664-1738) was a Scottish politician and Member of Parliament, one of the Lords of the Admiralty and the Lord of Treasury. This is the first important theoretical music text printed in Scotland. The first edition is scarce, and the frontispiece is often found lacking.   Later editions were published in 1730, 1776 and 1779.
