Massachusetts, Boston / A., F.W. HANDWRITTEN JOURNAL AND CASH ACCOUNTS OF
F.W.A. OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, 1858-1861. . Original manuscript. 119pp of
entries, about half making up his financial diary, and the other half his
record of stocks, real estate holdings, accounts receivable, &c. Written in
ink in a neat hand. Ledger book, bound in calf, leather spine labels; front
joint repaired, spine end chipped. 10.25" x 8.5" Very Good. Full Leather.
Comprises a detailed account of FWA's expenses, including bowling, renting
skates, dumb bells, hiring carriages to go out for dinner, etc. His
regional travels include Concord, Natick, Provincetown, Lynn, Jamaica
Plains, Cambridge, Roxbury, Dedham, &c. He may have resided in Charlestown.
Transactions include: renting cars, paying tolls, lunches & dinners,
cologne, haircuts, music lessons, looking glass, shoes, clothing from G.E.
Wolfe Co., books & newspapers, Virginia trip, fruits in season, whiskey,
sperm oil, theater tickets, concerts, fairs, museum visits, Venture
(California) Library, Allentown Boat Club, real estate on Concord Square &
elsewhere, dog collar, &c. FWA had a house built on Lot #14 Walnut Place,
Charlestown (oldest neighborhood in Boston), for which he purchased a
mableized mantle and shelves; &c., &c.  $275.00
