2.  Dibdin, Thomas Frognall. A BIBLIOGRAPHICAL ANTIQUARIAN AND PICTURESQUE
TOUR IN FRANCE AND GERMANY. London: Printed for the Author by W. Bulmer &
W. Nicol, Shakespeare Press, 1821. First Edition. Three volumes. pp: xxv,
(v), 462, lxxix-bibliographical indices, (i) corrections; (2), 555; (ii),
622, (lxii) supplement. Complete with: 83 plates without text, and 63
plates with text; tissue guards. As usual in this book, some plates have
offset onto facing text, despite the tissue guards. Bound in long-grained,
tan morocco, elaborate spine decorations and dentelles, all edges gilt.
Except for the occasional off-setting, this set is in fine condition. 10" x
6.25" Very Good. Morocco.
Laid into this set is the 1935 printed Grolier Club announcement of its
December meeting, "devoted to Thomas Frognall Dibdin, the bibliographer and
bibliophile, 1776-1847." The announcement includes an engraved portrait of

3.  Halsey, R.T.H. THE BOSTON PORT BILL AS PICTURED BY A CONTEMPORARY
LONDON CARTOONIST. NY: Grolier Club, 1904. First Edition. pp: xxx, 334;
frontispiece and 32 engravings, tissue guards. Calf, raised bands, gilt
rules and dentelles and spine devices; tops of joints just started. With
the engraved bookplate of John Stewart Kennedy. 10.25" x 6.25" Very Good.
Morocco & Boards.
This is one of only 325 copies, printed on American hand-made paper (and

4.  Hawthorne, Nathaniel. THE SCARLET LETTER. Illustrated by George H.
Boughton. NY: Grolier Club, 1908. Limited Edition. pp: (ix), 325; complete
with 26 plates (13 images in two states, one plain and one colored), tissue
guards laid in as issued. Gilt-embossed tan boards, brown cloth spine and
corners. Fine in a very good slipcase, accompanied by the original
wrap-around shelf back which is in pieces. 11.25" x 7.5" Very Good.
Cloth-backed boards.
This limited edition reprints the second edition of The Scarlet Letter, and
is one of 300 copies on French hand-made paper (and three copies on
Imperial Japanese paper). (#037376) $300.00

5.  Dibdin, Thomas Frognall. THE BIBLIOGRAPHICAL DECAMERON; OR, TEN DAYS
PLEASANT DISCOURSE UPON ILLUMINATED MANUSCRIPTS, AND SUBJECTS CONNECTED
WITH EARLY ENGRAVING, TYPOGRAPHY, AND BIBLIOGRAPHY. London: Printed for the
Author by W. Bulmer & Co., Shakespeare Press, 1817. First Edition. Three
volumes. pp: ccxxv, 410, (1) corrections and additions; (iii), 535, (1)
corrections and additions; (iii), 544, (1) errata. Printed on large paper.
Complete with 37 leaves of plates as called for in the List of Plates in
Volume III (one double, one folding), many engravings in text, several
illustrations colored as issued. As usual in this book, some plates have
offset onto facing text, despite the tissue guards. Bound in long-grained,
tan morocco, elaborate spine decorations and dentelles, all edges gilt.
Except for the occasional off-setting, this set is in fine condition. 10" x
6.25" Very Good. Morocco.
Written in pencil inside the red rear-endpaper in Volume I is the word
"Halliday."  This set came down through the Cooke family of Colts Neck, New
Jersey, whose farm dates back to the 18th century. Dr. Robert A. Cooke was
a book collector, and a member of the Grolier Club. Dr. Cooke pioneered the
treatment of allergies, founding the first allergy clinic in 1919 at New

6.  Milne, A.A. WINNIE-THE-POOH. With Decorations by Ernest H. Shepard.

throughout the text. Cloth-backed pictorial boards in blue and pink, paper
spine label. Fine in the pictorial, pink dust wrapper, with glassine
protective wrapper and the original (slightly dusted) pictorial pink box.

This is copy "B" of 200 signed and numbered copies on large paper, signed

7.  Silius Italicus. DE BELLO PUNICO LIBRI SEPTEMDECIM. Lyon: Sebastian
Gryphius, 1551. Early edition. 410pp. Contemporary, embossed vellum,
showing two personages on front and back covers, with Latin captions and an
intricate border. Binding stained; 3/4" chip at tail of spine; foot of
title-page clipped, leaving imprint intact. 5.25" x 3" Good . Vellum.
This 17-book Punica, an epic poem about the Second Punic War and the
longest surviving poem in Latin at over 12,000 lines, is also the only
surviving work by the first-century Latin poet, Silius Italicus. (#037386)
