Satire di Antonio Vinciguerra, Lodovico Ariosto, Ercole Bentivoglio, Luigi Alamanni, Lodovico Dolce. Londra [London]: Si vende in Livorno presso Tommaso Masi, 1786. Small 8vo (16.5 cm) in full calf, gilt-tooled spine, gilt-lettered morocco spine label; xxiii, [3], 96, [2], 122, 42, 99, [1] pp.; engraved title-page and frontispiece portrait.
Elegantly produced collection of satires in verse by Ariosto and several lesser-known poets, including the 15th-century Venetian Vinciguerra and the poet-diplomat Luigi Alamanni (1495-1556), who is often credited with having introduced the epigram to Italian poetry. Tiny bit of pin-hole worming to the spine leather, scattered light spotting to the leaves, otherwise clean and bright. A handsome volume.
