N[athan] Bailey: The Universal Etymological English Dictionary: In Two Parts: Containing, I. An additional Collection… II. An Orthographical Dictionary, shewing both the Orthography and Orthoepia of the English Tongue… London: Printed for T. Cox, at the Lamb, under the Royal-Exchange, MDCCXXVII [1727]. FIRST EDITION. Two volumes in one; thick 8vo (21 cm) in early/period paneled calf; unpaginated but ca. 960 pp.; woodcut in-text illustrations. Alston V, 127; ESTC N47782.

Intended as supplements to Bailey's original Universal Etymological Dictionary, hence the "Vol. II" on the title-pages, but both are complete, separate works in themselves and "enjoyed a separate publishing existence from the 1721 dictionary" (Alston). Binding worn and rubbed with bumps to the corners and some loss to the spine ends, front joint cracked with the board held by the cords; contents toned with more noticeable browning to some of the leaves in the first part, occasional small spots and stains, but generally quite clean, securely bound.
