[Elizabeth Inchbald, ed.:] A Collection of Farces and other Afterpieces, which are acted at the Theatres Royals, Drury-Lane, Covent-Garden and Hay-Market. Printed under the Authority of the Managers from the Prompt Book: Selected by Mrs. Inchbald. In Seven Volumes. London: Printed for Longman, Hurst, Rees, and Orme, 1809. FIRST EDITION. Seven volumes, 12mo (15.5 cm), in early/period diced calf, spines decorated and lettered in gilt, marbled endpapers; engraved portrait frontispiece to each volume.

Sixty-five farces, comedies, melodramas, burlettas and curtain-raisers by Richard Brinsley Sheridan, David Garrick, Gen. John Burgoyne, Charles and Thomas Dibdin, Robert Jephson, Arthur Murphy, George Colman, Hannah  Cowley, Frances Brooke and many others, including Elizabeth Inchbald herself, a novelist, actress, and successful playwright with some eighteen plays to her credit. A precursor of Mrs. Inchbald's popular and influential collection, The British Theatre, (1816). Bindings with modest rubbing, staining and wear to the extremities, joints professionally repaired; light spotting to several frontispieces with offsetting to the title-pages; occasional light spotting and toning elsewhere, otherwise quite clean and sound, firmly bound. A complete, solid and handsome set.
