Title printed in red & black, within a decorative border, and each page of text within a ruled border. Text illustrated with 25 full page woodcuts, quite detailed, depicting the sufferings of purgatory opposing the strengths of a proper Christian life, which is the subject of the text.   Front free endpaper lacking, but a beautiful copy in original blind tooled pigskin, each cover with a central panel.     $2,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
The Benedictine monastery in Tegernsee, Bavaria, had its own printing house for liturgical and spiritual texts. It was established in 1573 by the Abbot Quirinus who has written the 15 page foreword to this work. All of the imprints from this press are very scarce. OCLC records 4 copies (3 in Germany and 1 in the United States). VD 16 H3732 (not in the original printed edition, later added to the on-line catalog).
