(American Broadside) 1814 - August 10th -1883 Grand Celebration Of The 
Sixty-Ninth Anniversary Of The Battle Of Stonington!    Stonington Ct.; 
Anderson & Fairbrother, 1883.

Text in two columns; printed area measures 11" x 6.5". Toned and chipped 
at edges, but all text complete; "The 1883 observance was notable for 
being one of the last in which a substantial number of those who had 
seen the battle of 1814 were in the procession. The most notable figure, 
Captain Jeremiah Holmes, had died in 1872. Henry Denison, 90 years old, 
was listed as the sole participant present; six others were listed as 
eyewitnesses. Seven participants were said to be still living. The man 
said to be the last survivor, Captain Thomas Davison, died in 1894 at 
the age of 93, which meant that he would have served at the age of 13.

The piece measures 8" x 5.75". Great detail on the recto for 
participants the verso has the formal rules of the event and defines the 
various "Courses". Reddish stain to the lower half of the recto but all 
text is readable, folds have been smoothed.  Open to all Cat-Boats and 
admission is free... It also lists the names of the Committee and the 
Timers.

(Flat Earth). Carpenter, William. Carpenter's "Folly", A Magazine Of 
Facts No. 3 Second Series. Philadelphia: William Carpenter, 1890.

Octavo; pp; 65-73; original decorated printed puce paper wrappers; edge 
wear, else very good; William Carpenter (1830-1896), an English printer 
and author was a proponent of the Flat Earth theory active in England 
and the United States in the nineteenth century. Carpenter immigrated to 
the United States and continued his advocacy of the Flat Earth movement. 
He also published two magazines, Carpenter's Folly, of which only a few 
issues were printed in 1887, and Shorthand which was issued from 
1893-1894. Quite uncommon. Included in this printing is a defense in 
verse of the flat earth theory.

timeline of his tour of Africa and Europe from March to June 1909. The 
broadside was included as as a supplement to the Boston Sunday Globe, 
and was originally printed in 1909 by Brown Bros, New York.

Lost Horizon is a 1937 American drama-fantasy film directed by Frank 
Capra. The screenplay by Robert Riskin is based on the 1933 novel of the 
same name by James Hilton. The film exceeded its original budget by more 
than $776,000, and it took five years for it to earn back its cost. The 
serious financial crisis it created for Columbia Pictures damaged the 
partnership between Capra and studio head Harry Cohn, as well as the 
friendship between Capra and screenwriter Riskin, whose previous 
collaborations had included Lady for a Day, It Happened One Night, and 
Mr. Deeds Goes to Town.

incumbent selectman, who was defeated. The American Antiquarian Society 
copy is annotated: April 12, 1862 of the Mystic pioneer.
