#16. [Handsome Birds] Handsome 1850s-60s Embossed Hand-Colored Victorian
Cockatoo Poem Broadside. A handsome Victorian poetic broadside
featuring a hand-colored cockatoo. Un-marked, but reminiscent of the
products of Joseph Mansell, who manufactured embossed and laced papers,
and was known, from the 1840s to the 1870s, for his Christmas and
Valentines cards and card-blanks. His firm exhibited at the London
exhibitions in 1851 and 1862 and at the 1855 Paris exhibition. Single
sheet. 8.75”x10.5”. Minor soil, light wear. [42891] $85
