POLO, Marco. THE TRAVELS OF MARCO POLO. New York: Limited Editions Club, 
1934. Two octavo (5-7/8" x 8-3/8") volumes bound in full black Irish 
linen with gilt-lettered rust-colored labels. Illustrated with color 
drawings in the text by Nikolai Fyodorovitch Lapshin. Copy #308 of 1500 
SIGNED by the illustrator on the colophon page. Laid in is something we 
have not encountered before in our many years of selling LECs: a 5-1/2" 
x 8-1/2" card folded in half with the following printed on the front: 
Helen Macy/Marks this place for/[name written in red pencil]/March 31, 
1035. Inside at the bottom is printed: An Original Drawing by N. F. 
Lapshin for "The Travels of Marco Polo," above which is posted a small 
(4" x 2") watercolor. Small university bookplate on the front pastedown 
of each volume. Fine, lacking the slipcase. (#018401)        $175.00
