LOWELL, Robert. NATHANIEL HAWTHORNE 1804 - 1864. [Columbus, OH]: Ohio 
State University, 1964. First Edition. One large sheet folded to make 
four 13" x 19" pages with a SIGNED woodcut portrait of Hawthorne by 
Sidney Chafetz opposite a SIGNED printed poem by Lowell. Copy #71 of 
only 150 printed for distribution to participants in the Centenary 
Commemoration of the death of Hawthorne at Ohio State University. Some 
creasing to the upper corners, slight soiling to the title cover. Near Fine.

In part: "Leave him alone for a moment or two,/and you'll see him with 
his head/bent down, brooding, brooding,/eyes fixed on some chip,/some 
stone, some common plant,/the commonest thing,/as if it were the
