LIMITED EDITION of 500 copies printed by John Henry Nash. The text here
originally appeared as an introduction to Dawson's Book Shop, Catalogue
No. 35. The text gives a feeling for bibliophilia, and urges those so
afflicted to repair to Ernest Dawson's Book Shop in Los Angeles.
Washington Irving Way was an American author, literary agent and book
distributor. Way was a lifelong friend, business associate, and agent
for Thomas Bird Mosher (1852-1923). In addition, Way was a partner in
the publishing firm Way & Williams; the firm published L. Frank Baum's
_Mother Goose in Prose_, in 1897. Way was originally from Trenton,
Ontario, became a railroad executive, but had an interest in
bibliophilia and the craft of book making. He as a founding member of
the Grolier Club and president of the Caxton Club. Ward Ritchie wrote an
article for _Hoja Volante_ (May 1990, Number 169, pp. 8-11) that gives
the background on how Way found his way to Los Angeles in the 1920s, his
role in the book world of Los Angeles at the time, and how me met his
unfortunate end. REFERENCE: O'Day, _A Catalogue of Books Printed by John
Henry Nash_, No. 38.
