Two volumes, thick 8vo (22.5), bound in 3/4 chocolate morocco by Stikeman & Co., spines tooled and lettered in gilt, top page edges gilt, others untrimmed; 316, 371 pp.; illustrated with color and black&white plates, facsimiles, etc.

Comprehensive and profusely illustrated history of the period 1793-1805, when England faced the almost constant threat of invasion, first by the forces of Revolutionary France, then by Napoleon Bonaparte. With many reproductions of contemporary satirical caricatures, broadsides, etc. Bindings with some wear to the corners and extremities, rubbing to the joints; mild toning to the leaves, else clean and sound, firmly and handsomely bound. A nice copy.
