A reprint of the Benjamin Franklin/James Logan edition of 1744, with the prefatory note by Franklin (p. iii-v). It is called "The Fourth Edition" on the title page, but is actually the third edition. The second edition is Glasgow: Urie. 1751, then followed by our 1758 Glasgow edition. Both Ford's FRANKLIN BIBLIOGRAPHY (#46) and Evans (#8101) refer to a Philadelphia: William Dunlap. 1758 edition, but this is in fact a ghost. Shipton & Mooney states, "Imprint assumed by Evans from the imprint of the Glasgow ed. All reported copies are actually the Glasgow ed." There is only 1 American printing (1744) in the 18th century. Ford. FRANKLIN #47. ESTC citation #N26825.
