The Ceremonies to be Observed at the Royal Coronation of His Most Excellent Majesty King George the Fourth on Thursday the Nineteenth Day of July, MDCCCXXI [1821]. [London: Samuel and Richard Bentley, 1821.] Folio (34 cm; 13 1/4 in), stitch-bound as issued; 29, [3] pp.; with the integral blank leaf at the end.

The "official program" of the coronation, including the Delivery of the Regalia, the order of the Procession to and from Westminster Abbey, the Crowning, the Inthronization, the Dinner, the Challenge, etc. etc. Celebrating his ascent to the throne after ten years as Prince Regent, and years more as de facto regent, George IV was determined to make his coronation the social and political event of the age, and in large part he succeeded. His coronation is thought to have been the most expensive in British history, costing the treasury in excess of £230,000. Dust-soling and wear to the first and last page, some bumping/curling to the bottom edge of the text block, closed edge tears to two leaves, a few scattered light spots and creases. A remarkable survivor, still with its original stitched binding.
