[Emma Hamilton:] Memoirs of Lady Hamilton; with Illustrative Anecdotes of Horatio, Lord Viscount Nelson, and Many Other of Her Friends and Contemporaries. London: Printed for Henry Colburn, 1835. Third edition; 8vo (20 cm) in 3/4 navy blue morocco by Bayntun of Bath, spine decorated and lettered in gilt between raised bands, marbled endpapers, all page edges gilt; vi + 352 pp.; engraved portrait frontispiece (hand-colored); extra-illustrated with ten additional tissue-guarded plates.

A touch of light rubbing to the extremities and joints, sunning to the spine; occasional light foxing to the plates, a few scattered small spots to the text leaves, else very clean and sound, firmly and elegantly bound by Bayntun, with their stamp on the front free-endpaper. A handsome, extra-illustrated presentation of the rags-to-riches-to-rags life of the notorious Emma Hart (née Lyon), wife of Sir William Hamilton, mistress of Lord Nelson, model and muse to George Romney. "We do not remember having met with any biographical sketch that is so well calculated to paint the evils of voluptuous irregularity. It exhibits in a variety of instances the dangerous consequences of… substituting bright talents and splendid deeds for the substantial qualities of integrity and chastity" (Literary Register).
