WILLIAMS, Garth. AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED (ALS) & 3 TYPED LETTERS SIGNED 
(TLSs). Mexico, 1968-1972. A total of 4 SIGNED letters comprising 4-1/2 
pages to the publisher of THE FANTASTIC CHRISTMAS both written and 
illustrated by Williams. He discusses financial terms as well as 
technical procedures involved in creating the book in the TLSs and an 
injury resulting from a fall in the ALS. The letters contain some 
editorial annotations that give one a further glimpse into the process 
of making this book. According to Barbara Bader in AMERICAN PICTUREBOOKS 
FROM NOAH'S ARK TO THE BEAST WITHIN, "among the moderns only Garth 
Williams ... and Sendak ... are able to invest real animals with 
individual personality." Williams is best known for his illustrations 
for Russell Hoban's BEDTIME FOR FRANCES and E.B. White's classics STUART
