Sm. 8vo. 254,(2)pp. With the final leaf of colophon. Title within a fine woodcut border. BOUND WITH: Cicero, Marcus Tullius. DE ORATORE, Dialogi Tres, a Phil. Melan. Passim Notes Quibusdam Illustrati... Haganau: Johan Secer. 1525. Sm. 8vo. ff.(8),163,(1). With the final leaf of colophon with the large woodcut printer's device of "Janus." The two works bound together in modern full calf, blind tooled. Some light soiling. One leaf in the first work (Q5) slightly trimmed at fore-margin.                    $1,500.00 (trade discount allowed)

I: Scarce German imprint of "De Finibus," Cicero's philosophical work on the ends of good and evil. VD 16 C3098. Not in Adams or BL German STC. This edition is edited by Nikolaus F. Carbach.
II: Rare edition, only 1 American holding in OCLC, of Cicero's text "on the ideal orator," edited by the scholar Philip Melanchthon. See VD 16 ZV3452 (not recorded in the original printed edition, a later addition to the on-line database). Not in Adams or BL German STC.
