A large-format, vividly illustrated depiction of the life of Cardinal Richelieu. With numerous full-page and double-page color chromolithographs, some over-printed with the text. The illustrator, Maurice Leloir (1853-1940), was later called to Hollywood to consult with Douglas Fairbanks on his film version of "The Man in the Iron Mask," an experience which inspired Leloir's memoir, Cinq mois a Hollywood avec Douglas Fairbanks (1929).
