Son, Publishers,  (c1860).
First edition; small quarto; eight large illustrations colored by hand, 
each with two lifting flaps which change the scene; a complete but worn 
and soiled copy, a few short tears and chips, stitching loose, original 
quarter cloth-backed pictorial paper covered stiff boards lettered in 
red and black, printed advertising endpapers; Previous owner's signature 
on a preliminary dated 1873; Quite scarce. Transformations work like 
those of a metamorphosis, the events illustrated are primarily 
cautionary. OCLC First Search locates two copies at the British Library 
and one at Princeton University, only; the last copy at auction was 
Sotheby's London, 1983.
