Title with woodcut device and final leaf blank except for a large device on the verso. With the blank leaf between the two parts. The third leaf printed in red & black. Title in Greek & Latin, one leaf of Latin preface, and entire text (both parts) in Greek. Title leaf lightly discolored (dust soiled). BOUND WITH: Philoponus, John (or, Johannes). ...IN POSTERIA RESOLUTORIA ARISTOTELIS, Commentarium. Incerti Authoris in Eadem. Eustratii in Eadem. Venice: (Haered. Aldi Manutis & Andreas Asulani). 1534. 123,(1)pp. This is part one only, of two parts (see below).  Large Aldine anchor & dolphin on title. With the final leaf of colophon. Title in Greek & Latin, 1 leaf of preface in Latin, and text entirely in Greek. Text with numerous woodcut diagrams. First leaf of Greek text with a woodcut border at top and a large woodcut capital. Numerous old marginal notes, largely lined over. Bound in 17th century gilt paneled calf, nicely rebacked. The boards are rubbed and worn, and outer corners worn down (calf worn away).                         $3,500.00 (trade discount allowed)
Two Greek editions of this 6th century work by Philoponus, his commentary on Aristotle's text on logic, the "Posterior Analytics" (Analytica Posteriora).

II: This Aldine 1534 edition was printed in two parts (each with separate collation and colophon), the first part is a reprint of the Aldine 1504 edition, here present complete, but unfortunately this copy lacks the second part (ff.67,(1)), which is the commentary of Eustratius. Adams P1044. Renouard p. 113 #9.
