spine label titled in gilt, spine decorated in gilt, all edges marbled;
binding square and tight, re-backed with brown cloth with original spine
laid down, corners showing. Very Good.

FIRST ENGLISH EDITION. Herbert's _Fish and Fishing in the United States_
provides detailed descriptions of the species of fish commonly caught in
North America, with appendices on fishing tackle and typical methods of
preparation for eating. Henry Herbert was born in London and educated at
Eton College and Caius College Cambridge. After Herbert lost his
property to a dishonest agent, he emigrated to the United States in
1831. He taught Latin and Greek at a private school in New York for
eight years. He founded and edited the American Monthly Magazine in
1833, which he edited until 1835.
