Euisdem Federici Commandini Liber de Harolo Giorum Descriptione. Rome: Paulum Manutium. 1562. Sm. 4to. ff.(4),93,(2). With numerous woodcut diagrams. The Aldine title with dolphin & anchor device. Later (18th ? century) full vellum, red morocco spine label. Title with a few small marginal repairs. First 8 leaves (including title) with an old water stain at top outer corner, and final 12 leaves with a stain at the blank fore-edge margin. Note: this copy lacks the second, of three, index leaves at back.     $1,250.00 (trade discount allowed)
The first edition of an important work on astronomy. Edited and with commentary and an added book "De Horologiorum Descriptione" by mathematician F. Commandinus. Renouard 187. Adams P2216. This is an ideal candidate to have a facsimile of the missing index leaf supplied. Two complete copies are currently in the market place, both for over $5,000.
