[Eutropius; Sextus Rufus:] Eutropii Historiae Romanae Epitome. Sexti Rufi Breviarum. Parisiis [Paris]: Apud Ant. Aug. Renouard, 1796. Nineteenth-century 3/4 calf and marbled boards, gilt-lettered leather spine label; 12mo (13.5 cm); [4] + 294 + [2] pp.; with the half-title page and terminal leaf of publisher's adverts.

A nice example of an elegantly simple production, handsomely printed by Charles Crapelet (on the verso of the half-title: "Typis Caroli Crapelet. Anno IV"). Uncommon: OCLC locates only 3 copies in institutions in the U.S. (Harvard, U of Pennsylvania, SUNY Binghamton). Binding with some rubbing to the spine and edges, contents very fine: no foxing or toning, virtually spotless, as clean and fresh as if it had been issued last year, not 220 years ago. Front paste-down with the engraved armorial bookplate of R. D. Wilson, who presumably inscribed the ink notation on the half-title: "Rome 27 July 1827."
