the history, art, and craft of book binding. Edith Diehl was an American
bookbinder; her _Bookbinding: Its Background and Technique_ is a classic
text and manual on the history and craft of bookbinding in two volumes.
In 1947 Diehl was made an Honorary Life Member of the Guild of Book
Workers in recognition of her accomplishments. Edith Diehl's papers are
held at the Archives of American Art, the Morgan Library and Museum, and
the Grolier Club.
