A lovely copy of the first translation of the poems of Hafiz into Latin, with extensive scholarly notes. This work was translated and edited by Charles de Revicksky (Karoly Reviczky) 1737-1791, Hungarian scholar and important 18th century book collector whose library was purchased en bloc by the 2nd Earl of Spencer. An English translation of this work, by John Richardson, appeared in 1774 under the title, A SPECIMEN OF PERSIAN POETRY.
