FLETCHER, William Younger. ENGLISH BOOK COLLECTORS. London: Kegan Paul,
Trench, TrÅbner, 1902. First Edition. Quarto (6-3/4" x 8-1/2") bound in
full gilt-lettered vellum. xviii, 448 pages. The third volume of The
English Bookman's Library series edited by Alfred Pollard comprised of
an alphabetical list of 100 English book collectors from the 15th to the
19th centuries with an alphabetical list of sales of collections by
Walter Stanley Graves. This is copy #45 of only 50 copies bound in
vellum. Some titles in the series were also printed on vellum with a
limitation page stating such. This copy's limitation only states the
number of copies and makes no mention of the paper or the binding. The
paper, however, has a vellum "feel" to it and at the very least was
treated to appear as vellum if not the real thing. Contemporary
bookplate of Alexander Cochrane on the front pastedown. Few minor spots
to spine. Fine. (#011375) $350.00
