Cicero, Marcus Tullius. RHETORICUM AD C. HERENNIUM. LIB. IIII... Paris: Simon de Colines. 1545. 16mo. ff.218,(6). With the final 2 blank leaves. Printer's woodcut device on title. Bound in 17th century red crimson morocco, gilt paneled covers and ornately gilt spine. A.e.g. Both covers with the central gilt arms of J. J. Charron, the Marquis de Menars (1643-1718). With the "Syston Park" bookplate and the bookplate of George Hoar.  Top of spine lightly chipped and final few leaves with an old water stain at bottom outer corner, still very attractive.      $750.00 (trade discount allowed)
See Renouard p. 403-404. Schreiber 221. Note: researching the Syston Park Library of Sir J. H. Therold, I found a citation stating that this volume was "bound by Boyer about 1670."
