Third edition; Octavo; pp; vii, (i), 174, with index; illustrated with a frontispiece and one additional plate; original printed paper wrappers; wear to the paper covered spine ends, some chipping at the wrapper extremities, a dampstain at the rear affects the top of the last few leaves but in a minor fashion, overall a very good tight clean copy in the original wrappers; Quite a scarce item in today’s market, especially in wraps; the first edition appeared in 1856, “As this was the first American work wholly devoted to the subject of paper, it made a considerable impression in the world of printers and book lovers.” Edelstein, Joel Munsell Printer and Antiquarian.
