(ARIZONA TERRITORY) A printed bank check (issued by "Santa Cruz Valley Bank" of Tucson, Arizona) made to Nellie Cashman for $997.50, dated Jan. 14, 1890, and endorsed by Nellie on the verso.    $300.00 (trade discount allowed)
Nellie Cashman was born in 1845 in Ireland; the family moving to America when she was a child. Around 1879-1880 she moved to Tombstone, Arizona where she became a very prominent citizen known to everyone. By the late 1880s she owned several boarding houses and restaurants, including Delmonicos, the first business owned by a woman in Tombstone. She was known as "The Angel of Tombstone" for her charity and good deeds. She built the first Catholic Church in the city and was a close friend of Wyatt Earp.
