Anonymous. Ike's Story. Los Angeles: Sponsored Comics, 1952.
First edition; small quarto; pp; (8); illustrated in color; original 
printed pictorial self-wrappers; Near fine; A campaign oriented comic 
book, not in Miles, "Image Makers"; Accompanied by a letter on 
"Sponsored Comics stationery to the Hon. Frederick Payne, Governor of 
Maine and successful candidate for the Senate in 1952, congratulating 
the Governor for his Primary Win and offering "any service in your 
campaign'... This letter is stamped with the Governor's Office "rec'd 
date etc" also a carbon of a letter from the Governor's secretary 
acknowledging receipt and that it will be brought to the Governor's 
attention when he returns from a brief absence. The campaign comic is a 
scarce item, but a great association.

Also;

Dwight David Eisenhower. Tls. Typed Letter Signed. One page, 8.5" x 11", 
August 18, 1952; from Brown Palace Hotel, Denver Colorado, on Office Of 
Dwight D. Eisenhower stationery to Governor Frederick G. Payne of Maine. 
"Ike" is discussing campaign strategy and will be sending Sen. Nixon for 
"intensive work, the first week in September...". He sends good wishes 
for Payne's campaign for the Senate. Payne did become the Senator and 
later had President Eisenhower as his guest for a fishing trip in Maine. 
Accompanying this letter is a carbon of the Governor's letter back to 
Eisenhower discussing the campaign. The Eisenhower letter also bears the 
stamp of the Governor's Office showing date of reception.

Also
Congratulatory Telegram from Dwight D. Eisenhower to Gov. Payne dated 
June 20, 1952 on his Primary election victory, there is the basic 
telegram and a second copy on a special Western Union "Congratulations" 
form;
Accompanying this letter is a carbon of the Governor's letter back to 
Eisenhower, June 25, 1952 acknowledging the telegram and looking forward 
to the Chicago Convention, "to work with you closely on all matters for 
the good of this nation and the peoples of the free world in the years 
ahead".
