British Columbia. PHOTOGRAPH ALBUM OF 65 VERNACULAR IMAGES, MAINLY OF YOUNG
WOMEN IN YOHO NATIONAL PARK, BRITISH COLUMBIA IN THE 1930s.

String-tied album of rough-out calfskin with burned-in title, "Snap Shot
Album, Field--B.C." and with images of a wigwam and a Native American in
full head-dress. The album contains 21pp of photographs of various sizes,
mounted to black stock, and three loose photographs. Some are captioned in
white ink. Overall size, 7" x 10.5". Very Good condition.

All but six of the photographs in this album were taken in British
Columbia, most in Yoho National Park. Many feature views of Mt. Burgess,
Emerald Lake (including the Chalet, Club House and “Annexe”), and Mt.
President, as well as Emerald Mountain and Lone Duck Lake. Inside the cover
is an image of a young woman, captioned "Eunice," perhaps a clue to the
maker of the album. Also seen are labeled photos of other young women (MFT,
Betty, Gite, Winnie, and Margy, Kit Spreckley and Lulu) as well as the
child Leo, an older “Miss Reed”, and “Paul” with “Mr. Riddell”. Many views
show the subjects on horseback or with horses. It is worth noting that in
several cases, the girls’ jobs (summer jobs?) are listed, e.g. “’Nice
[Eunice] kitchen maid,” “Billy, Bellboy” “MFT, Chambermaid”, “Waitresses
all” (10 girls in uniform). ["Field is an unincorporated community of
approximately 169 people located in the Kicking Horse River valley of
southeastern British Columbia, Canada, within the confines of Yoho National
Park. It is 27 km (17 mi) west of Lake Louise along the Trans-Canada
Highway which provides the only road access to the town."--Wikipedia] ~~
The final six photographs in the album are of Kandersteg, a tourist haven
in the Swiss Alps near Bern. Those views include a large party with Dr.
Fothergill/CTU, posed in front of a hotel (“Kurhaus Kandersteg”), a large
group on skis, and the Hotel Alpenrose. $160.00

Postpaid in US. Usual trade terms.
