Whitcomb, A.W.  HANDWRITTEN ACCOUNT BOOK FOR 1864 FROM WHITCOMB'S GENERAL
STORE IN PROCTORSVILLE, VERMONT.  Folio, 216pp full of entries.  Commencing
on Monday, April 15, 1864 and ending on Thursday, December 15, 1864.
Contains hundreds of legible entries in ink.  Local customer names include:
Atherton, Whitcomb, Cass, Sykes, Reynolds, Davis, Wilson, Deane, Belcher,
Hill, Paige, Parkhurst, Glyn, Riggs, Chapman, Spaulding, Harrington,
Gleason, Suleman, Ellis, Todd, Cook, Kendall, Hadley, Baldwin, Fowler,
Belcher, Tiffany, Hosmer, Langworthy, Parker, Stafford, Beckwith, Bigelow,
Universalist Society, &c

Purchases include: codfish, sugar, eggs, oysters, Japanese tea, molasses,
smoked hailbut, raisins, tobacco, shoe brush, lemons, camphor, White Rose
and Snow Drop Flours, cheese, pepper, mustard, horseradish, maple sugar,
mackerel, candles, nuts, boots, snuff, nutmeg, corn brooms, butter, grass
seed, clover, soap, saleratus, books, cider, various vegetables and fruits,
making cushions, knives, photographs, various spices, matches, whips,
alcohol, coffee, bluefish, baskets, dishes, horseshoeing, &c.

Bound in calf-backed marbled boards; spine ends slightly chipped.
Internally clean. 16" x 6.5".
Proctorsville is one of two villages in the town of Cavendish, Windsor
County, Vermont.  The 2010 census recorded a population of 454 persons.  In
the 19th century, it was the site of a large textile mill.  $200.00
