Classic 1911 Book on Antique Silhouettes & Silhouette Cutters

“The History of Silhouettes”

By E. Nevill Jackson.
Published in London by The Connoisseur in 1911.

Emily Jackson just about single-handedly wrote the entire literature on
silhouettes and their artists in the first part of this century with her
two massive general works on the subject and her companion volume on
Auguste Edouart, as well as a number of catalogs. This, her first book,
is well illustrated and includes some lovely tipped-in color plates.

Hardcover. 8.5"x11", 121 + 4 pages, plus 1 color, 7 tipped-in color and
73 black & white plates. Publisher's handsome pictorial covers. Covers
with light wear and minor soil, front hinge cracked but tight, scattered
light internal soil and spotting, short closed tear to page 113/4, one
plate detached but present. $125
