First edition. lg. 4to. viii,366,(2)pp. Illustrated with the 9 plates (including 1 map, and 1 hand-colored) listed on the "Directions to the Binder." This copy with 1 added plate at p. 79, not called for. 20th century brown morocco over brown linen, top of spine a bit rubbed, but quite nice. The frontispiece is moderately foxed, and the other plates also with some foxing.    $1,000.00 (trade discount allowed)
Abbey Travel 709. Sinkankas GEMOLOGY #4270, noting that Mawe was a gem merchant and the important value of this book for information on Brazilian diamond, topaz, and gold mining. He also notes, "Most copies are moderately to severely foxed."
