Allan Cunningham: Paul Jones; A Romance. Edinburgh: Published by Oliver & Boyd, 1826. FIRST EDITION. Three volumes, 8vo, in early half calf and marbled boards, gilt-lettered spines; 380, 372, 371 pp.; bound without the half-titles. Wolff 1682; Sadleir 668.

A three-decker, highly romanticized account of the life and adventures of the the Scottish-American naval hero John Paul Jones (1747-1792),  including his time in the service of America and Russia, the kidnapping of his sister by pirates[!!], etc. Bindings with rubbing to the boards and spines, wear to the edges and extremities, two vols. with short tears to the spine leather at the top of the front joints; inner hinge of vol. I cracked but secure; offsetting (browning) to the first and last 2 leaves in each volume, occasional light spotting and small stains, but generally clean.
