A Collection of Engraved Armorial Bookplates, eighteenth- and nineteenth-century, mounted and bound in an album; small 4to (26 cm), pebbled leather decorated in gilt and blind. Front paste-down with the bookplate of Thomas Anderson, Esq. [of] Jesmond House, Northumberland, followed by thirty-three bookplates mounted on five leaves, rectos and versos, including those of Rugby School; William Augustus Le Hunte; Charles Donald Macleane [of the] Madras Civil Service; George Courtenay; Sir John Phillimore; etc., etc. On the last leaf of the volume is a pencil sketch of an unidentified country house. Many leaves blank, ten preliminary leaves with bookplates removed; binding rubbed and spotted, wear to the corners.
