First edition in book form; 8vo in original publisher's patterned cloth; xx + 256 pp.; with many in-text illustrations. Adapted, revised and expanded from a series of articles first published in Fraser's Magazine in 1845, and augmented with additional illustrations. Binding with wear to the extremities, some splitting to the cloth at the rear joint, small chip from the front joint; contents lightly toned with a very few occasional small spots, else clean and sound, firmly bound.
