Abstracted from the Folio Edition, By the Author Samuel Johnson, A.M. To which is prefixed, a Grammar of the English Language. In Two Volumes. The Seventh Edition, corrected by the Author. London: Printed for W. Strahan, J.F. and C. Rivington [et al], MDCCLXXXIII [1783]. Two volumes, large 8vo (22 cm), in modern quarter leather and cloth-covered boards, gilt-lettered spine labels. Alston V, 201; ESTC N28411.

Spotting to the first and last few leaves of each volume, contents toned with occasional browning and a few scattered small spots; previous owner's penciled note on the (blank) front free-endpaper. A solid example of this early 8vo edition of Johnson's famous dictionary, one of the most significant English-language works ever printed.
